Why This Small Museum Matters?
Stopping by the Catoosa Historical Museum turned out to be one of the most heartfelt surprises of our trip. Not only did we have the chance to meet Blaine Davis, son of the man who built the legendary Blue Whale, but we also met a kind woman — a descendant of local Native American tribes — who generously shared stories, culture, and memories with us.
Both welcomed us warmly, and their stories 💬 added incredible depth to our journey. It reminded us that these small, local museums aren’t just about artifacts and old photos — they’re about people. People who are proud of their roots, eager to share history, and happy to offer tips, stories, and a bit of conversation to anyone willing to listen.
If you're nearby, don't overlook this little museum — or any other local museum along Route 66. You'll find humble treasures, vintage objects, historic clothing, paintings, furniture, and even archaeological finds that help piece together the past of the communities along the Mother Road.
Sometimes, it's not the size of the museum that matters — it's the warmth of the welcome and the richness of the stories inside.
