1925 Railroad Underpass

Just a few miles west of Sapulpa, travelers can still drive along an old alignment of Route 66, a stretch that was once part of the historic Ozark Trail. Here, time seems to slow down as the road dips beneath a weathered concrete railroad underpass, built back in 1925.

The bridge may not look imposing at first glance, but it carries with it nearly a century of history. The faded concrete walls, decorated with layers of graffiti, tell silent stories of countless road trippers, locals, and dreamers who have passed through over the decades. Above your head, trains still rumble by, while beneath, cars continue to weave through this quiet curve in the road.

Driving here, you can almost feel what it must have been like in the early days of the Mother Road. Before the interstate highways, before the neon motels, this was the path where travelers pushed westward with hope and adventure in their hearts.

For today’s Route 66 explorers, this underpass is more than just a relic—it’s a chance to experience the Mother Road in its raw, original form. The surroundings are green and peaceful, with the road curving away into the Oklahoma woods, making it an unexpectedly atmospheric stop.
